BLACK OR BROWN
This is the first "This or That", a new series I wanted to add to the website—content that is easy to read, easy to write, but also interesting for anyone with a slight curiosity about fashion or simply intrigued by the topic.
So, let's begin.
The color of the night or the color of coffee? My decision is very clear—as usual, because I never take the time to think patiently—but it could be a tough choice.
If you had to wear only one of these two colors for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?
Black is effortless, it’s surely already a big part of your wardrobe. It’s chic & sophisticated.
Brown is autumn by nature—it’s more laid-back yet still elegant. It’s the color of the perfect coat, and the color of coffee and chocolate—which is a very important factor in this decision.
Black is the night; it’s the villain in the movie. It can be sad, but it can also be powerful. It’s the perfect suit for a night out, but it could also be a mini skirt, a pair of boots, or an eyeliner. It’s the best friend of low-effort, high-impact outfits… and now, I might be rethinking my decision.
On the other hand, brown is the ultimate "if you know, you know" kind of color. I think for a long time, it was seen as an old-money shade—or maybe just an elderly color—so it’s easy to associate it with grandma vibes. But is it grandma… or is it vintage? Mmmm.
So, let’s make a decision once and for all. Both are essentials, both can handle almost any situation—except for black-tie events, where you're forced to wear black. Also, funerals. So let’s say almost everything.
You can never go wrong with black, and I find it very difficult to mess up wearing brown… but I guess it could happen. So, my final choice is actually brown. I find it more fun; I think it looks better on me. However, I wouldn’t want to give up wearing black for the rest of my life—so thank God this isn’t an actual life-or-death decision.
I choose both for obvious reasons, but I’d rather wear brown, and I actually own way more brown items than black ones.
Wait… I’m lost now. What did I choose?
