WARDROBE REMIX FOR SPRING
Undeniably, spring is most people’s favorite season. For me, it personally brings me back home; the feeling of the temperature, the greens, and the happy sensation of finally not suffering from the cold and not yet complaining about the heat. I tend to start feeling the presence of spring even before it begins, but I am sure I am not the only one.
There is something less pleasant about spring, and it is the time to change the wardrobe from winter to summer, while keeping some pieces in between for when the weather is still cold. In that moment, I tend to panic, forget about the pieces I already own, and usually overconsume and purchase items that I might already have in my closet.
So, with that in mind, I am determined to keep my wardrobe clean and tidy and take the most out of what I already own. Lately, the trends circulating around seem effortless and basic, sometimes so basic that it feels like something is missing. I usually fall victim to this and end up wearing the exact same jeans with a white t-shirt and loafers every single day.
This challenge started differently than it ended, because that is the way I tend to act. But it basically consisted of taking 3 tops, 3 bottoms, and 3 accessories and creating as many looks as possible, thinking outside the box. Rather than focusing on whether it turned out exactly as planned, I carefully selected pieces that were basic but not too basic, making them fun and practical at the same time.
The tops I chose were basic and versatile: a gray long-sleeve that works as a neutral base, a lightweight turquoise long sleeves that adds a hint of color, and a few variations layered or worn on their own. None of them felt overly complicated, and that was the point. Basics allow space for styling, for accessories, and for interpretation.
The bottoms followed a similar logic. A dark green mini skirt, a striped midi skirt, and a pair of dark grey trousers. Each one shifted the tone of the outfit completely: the mini skirt felt youthful and casual, the striped skirt introduced texture and movement, and the trousers added structure and a slightly more polished mood.
Accessories played a quiet but important role. A small crossbody bag, simple sandals, and boots were repeated across looks, proving that accessories don’t need to change dramatically to create variety. Sometimes a different shoe or a slight adjustment in how a bag is worn is enough to transform an outfit’s energy.
