SHIRTS
Shirts are those items that could never go wrong in your wardrobe, but somehow, for me, are incredibly hard to style on a daily basis.
I see them hanging in my closet and love the variety of prints, textures, and structures I have, but when it comes time to choose, I’d rather just take a t-shirt, a sweater, or something that doesn’t make me feel as formal as a shirt could — even though they actually aren’t.
So, I’m taking this as a personal challenge and putting together outfits with shirts to show their variations and versatility. Not that I want to mention it, but I think some of it comes from having the OCD of ironing them perfectly or not wearing them at all — but let’s not discuss the little details.
There are many different styles, shapes, and structures for creating interesting shirt looks. My personal favorite? Definitely texture.
Combining leather shirts with more basic jeans, or pleated trousers with a satin shirt, is one of my favorite ways to spice it up.
Not only do they allow endless possibilities to play with the pieces separately, but they are also essentially simple items turned into statement pieces — as you might remember from previous articles, it’s a balance I could not refuse to use.
When it comes to more classical fabrics, like cotton, or simpler patterns like stripes, playing with the rest of the elements in the look to make it feel a certain way is key. For example, this look went from being a cowboy-inspired shirt to a Louvre detective vibe in seconds, just by adding the hat and jacket.
This little challenge taught me something simple: sometimes, the hardest pieces to style are the ones that have the most potential. Maybe it’s not about finding the “right” way to wear them, but about making them fit your way of living more naturally.
