ONE PAIR OR FOURTEEN? – GLASSES DEBATE
Call it a guilty pleasure — honestly, I don't even know anymore. The most typical fashion comment you’ll hear from a woman usually involves shoes or bags. And frankly? Same here. I do enjoy bags and shoes, a lot. But there’s something unwritten about glasses. I genuinely love them — not only as a necessary tool to actually see, but as a true complement to an outfit.
However, that idea doesn’t justify the number of pairs I’ve been collecting over the years. I do not need this many pairs to cover my visual needs, but it got to the point where they play a role in the outfits and personality changes I like to have every now and then, so, as long as I'm actually wearing most of them a few times a year, I feel in a safe space.
Glasses are an incredible accessory that, although often trendy and popular – maybe two or three styles each year dominate the scene and you see them everywhere from street style, famous people, and your closest friends – offer so much more than just being 'on trend'.
From developing a character, covering a very bad day, tidying up a look, or protecting your privacy to avoid being recognized. Perhaps, wearing them takes you to a comfort place, whether they are prescription or regular sunnies. Maybe they’re fake frames, but they let you land in your comfort zone once you get used to wearing them and being perceived like that.
By saying all of that, you could identify that I'm a complete freak when it comes to glasses. I own a ridiculous amount, yet somehow I end up wearing the same few pairs all the time — until that rare, occasion arrives when I can finally pull out the vintage pair I found on a trip for just 5€.
So yes, having multiple pairs is totally normal — in fact, it's often the healthiest and most practical thing to do. Different situations, moods, and needs call for different frames. However… owning fourteen pairs? That might be a bit much. I’ll admit, it does reveal a slightly irresponsible side of my consumption habits — but what can I say? Sometimes, a girl has her little secrets.
